Mystery surrounds the execution-style murder of a married father-of-three, 46, in the park where he met women for extramarital sex – with his killers ignoring his wallet and phone

  • Momtaz Kabbout's body was found at a lookout in Sydney's southwest in 2012
  • He was sleeping with several women, and would often have sex at the lookout
  • A coronial inquest heard he and his wife were both having affairs at the time
  • Autopsy found he was kneeling when he was shot five times in his head and back

A murdered father-of-three was killed execution-style in the same park where he would often meet up with women for sex, an inquest has heard.

A coronial inquest heard Momtaz Kabbout's body was found face down at Shortland Brush Lookout in Sydney's southwest in July 2012.

Lidcombe Coroner's Court heard an autopsy showed the 46-year-old was on his knees when he was shot five times in his head and back, the ABC reported.

Two mobile phones and $400 cash were found in his pockets, ruling out robbery as the motive.

Counsel assisting the coroner Ben Hart told the court that Kabbout and his wife - who he lived with in Fairfield - were both having affairs.

'It came to light within the investigation that Kabbout was involved sexually with several other women,' he said.

'Witnesses have described Kabbout telling them he had a problem and pointed out Shortland Brush Reserve as a place where he would go to sleep with women.'

In the early stages of the investigation, progress was delayed by some women denying any involvement with Kabbout, before they eventually admitted they were sleeping with him.

The inquest heard a tissue containing his semen and someone else's DNA was found in his pockets, as well as five unused condoms and a condom wrapper.

Kabbout worked as a driving instructor, but was also involved with finding fake drivers' licences for his customers - but police don't believe this was a factor in his murder.

Kabbout's brother Fawaz left Australia on a fake airline ticket the night he was murdered, but died later in Lebanon during surgery.

The case was referred back to the New South Wales Police Unsolved Homicides unit.
