Modern dating isn't easy - and now there are new dating terms in the mix that make it even more of a challenge.
Although terms like 'ghosting' and 'breadcrumbing' have become the norm, according to Sportluxe there are nasty new dating trends we should be wary of.
They explained that singles will have to become wary of potential partners 'curving', 'prowling' and 'throning'.

Modern dating isn't easy - and now there are new dating terms in the mix that make it even more of a challenge
Curving
'Curving' is when someone you're dating finds subtle ways to avoid you without telling you they are not interested in you.
Although it is similar to ghosting it doesn't entail someone disappearing off of the face of the earth and cutting off all forms of communication.
Instead it involves the person hanging around enough to keep someone interested and cruelly keep them living in hope even though there is no sign of commitment.
Some of the characteristics include not responding to someone for days then only sending short replies, never initiating conversations or asking follow-up questions and contacting the other person only enough to keep the flame alight.
Prowling
'Prowling is when someone who ghosts you decides to make a reappearance via social/app/texts, dropping you a casual message as if nothing ever happened,' the publication said.
This tends to occur most when someone has a break from dating and then feels like they're missing out when they realise you’re still attractive.
The most frustrating aspect of this is the fact that they will go from having completely disappeared to suddenly coming back into your life without apologising.

Throning
'Throning' is when someone dates another person to boost their own profile or reputation.
'The equivalent of being a social "gold digger" - someone seeking their way to the social media "throne" will do anything (or date anyone) to clawing their way to social media royalty (think social stats and far-fetched blue tick goals) and will gladly leverage off their partner to boost their own profile,' they said.
Other terms to be aware of...
Dracula-ing
According to Tinder this term was inspired by the classic vampire as a way to describe people only hearing from the people they are dating at night.
This is taken further when the person only surfaces in the dead of night to hit you up with a 'you up?' text.
Exagger-date
The clue is all in the word as it describes the act of embellishing a date to suggest it went way better than it actually did.
Bird Boxed
Thanks to the Netflix movie hit Bird Box another dating expression has been created.
'Bird boxed' describes when you are being blind to just how bad your partner or the person you’re seeing is.
Insta-gator
This term is all about using Instagram to make a relationship public or to push it along further.
It can be a good or bad thing depending on the situation as the person who initiates contact or first publicises a relationship via social media will do so by tagging, DM-ing or posting a photo of the two of you.
Three-dot disappearing act
The act of starting to type a message and then stopping, causing the three dots in your conversation to keep vanishing and popping up in a wholly torturous cycle.
