Mumbai: One more held in CST bridge crash

MUMBAI: Police probing the fatal Himalaya bridge crash at CSMT arrested the former BMC chief engineer of bridges on Monday. Sources privy to the investigations said they arrested retired chief engineer (bridges) Shitlaprada O Kori (60).

Kori, the fourth person to be arrested in the case, will be produced before the Esplanade metropolitan magistrate court on Tuesday. Kori, who worked with the department from September 2014 to December 2018, when the audit and repairs were carried out, was accused of negligence.
Azad Maidan police have so far arrested assistant BMC engineer S F Kakulte, Anil Patil (53), an executive engineer, and Neeraj Kumar Desai, a private auditor Kori’s job was to check bridges in the city, which include ones being audited. He was also responsible for overseeing their repairs and audit. Himalaya bridge was repaired in 2013-14. The foot over-bridge, which connects Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to BT Lane, had crashed on March 14, claiming seven lives.
