Dangerous drug offender, 32, is on the run after taking off his ankle monitor and doing a runner - as police warn people to stay away from him

  • He was at a drug treatment centre after being sentenced by the NSW Drug Court 

A drug offender has been on the run for five days after removing his ankle monitor and failing to return to jail. 

Brett Burns, 32, removed his ankle monitor and did not return to Parklea Correctional Centre in north-western suburbs of Sydney in the morning on Friday, May 3.

He was living at the Compulsory Drug Treatment Correctional Centre after being sentenced by the Drug Court, according to a NSW Corrective Services spokeswoman. 

Burns has outstanding warrants and police have urged the public not to approach him.

He was last seen leaving the minimum-security facility on Friday morning and police became aware he had not returned at 7.30pm later that day. 

The man may be in Wyong, Rooty Hill, Willmot or Lethbridge Park, according to police.       

Burns is white, 165cm-170cm tall and thin with a shaved head and tattoos on his left leg and right arm.

He was last seen wearing black Canterbury shorts with an orange ‘CCC’ on the left leg, a white short sleeve Lacoste shirt and white Nike TN’s with a fluoro yellow sole.
