7 die as car rams trailer near Ambur

VELLORE: Six of a family and an unidentified driver died on the spot after their car smashed into a stationary trailer near Ambur on the Chennai-Bengaluru National Highway on Monday.

Police identified the deceased as Hemant Naryanrao N Deshmukh, 37, his wife Saarika Hemant Deshmukh, 30, Milind Narayan Deshmukh, 40, his wife Kiran Milind Deshmukh and their two sons - all from Buldhana district in Maharashtra. The driver was from Karnataka .
According to the Ambur taluk police, the victims were returning to Karnataka after visiting the Sripuram Golden Temple in Vellore when tragedy struck. According to sources, the driver may have lost control of the car before ramming the truck while crossing Zameen village near Ambur at 2pm on Monday. TNN
