Kylie Jenner channels Lil' Kim's iconic 1999 VMAs look at this year's Met Gala... as self made billionaire arrives in lavender feathered Versace frock with matching wig

Lil' Kim wore the iconic purple wig and jumpsuit look at the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards.

And 20 years later, Kylie Jenner arrived to the 2019 Met Gala in a purple Versace look that seemed inspired by the rapper.

The 21-year-old self made billionaire, who was joined on the carpet by her boyfriend Travis Scott, donned a lavender wig that matched her feathered designer frock.

Kylie showcased her ample cleavage in the pale purple number, which featured a strapless nude bodysuit peeking through the mesh design.

The mother of one's curvy hips were on full display in the designer piece; the number had see-through elements along the skirt before becoming feathered by the bottom.

Kylie had huge feathered sleeves that proved to be quite the statement in the mermaid-cut number.

The Kylie Cosmetics founder paired the strapless frock with sleek lavender locks that cascaded down her back center parted.

Their older sister Kim Kardashian arrived to the 2019 Met Gala in a stunning caramel colored gown that accentuated her hourglass figure - a Thierry Mugler creation.

The 38-year-old reality star dazzled on the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City while posing with husband Kanye West.

She told E! News that designer Thierry 'envisioned me a California girl stepping out of the ocean dripping' for her Met Gala look: 'That is the vibe tonight.'

Kim added to the reporter that it's the first time he designed a look for the gala in 20 years' and the look was 'eight months in the making.'

The Met Gala is the annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute and is the most glittery and exclusive event on the New York fashion calendar.

It is famous for attracting luminaries of Hollywood, of fashion, music, sports, TV and the stage for an evening of fashion and charity to mark the museum's spring exhibit.

This year, the exhibit and gala are dedicated to the idea of 'camp,' as defined by Susan Sontag's 1964 essay Notes on 'Camp.'

The Met Gala, formally known as the Costume Institute Benefit, is always chaired by a team of high-wattage celebrities, and this year is no exception.

The event is chaired by pop star and actress-of-the-moment Lady Gaga, tennis star Serena Williams, and singer Harry Styles, along with Gucci designer Alessandro Michele and, as always, Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

Wintour said she believes this year's Met Gala to be about 'self expression' and 'individuality', noting that she wanted to see 'outrageous, fun, tongue in cheek' fashion on the red carpet.

The new theme seems decidedly more lighthearted than last year's hugely successful Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, about the relationship between fashion and Catholicism.

That sumptuous, sprawling show drew more visitors than any Costume Institute exhibit — more than 1.3 million to the Met's main Fifth Avenue location, and nearly 200,000 to its Cloisters branch — and indeed was one of the most attended shows in the museum's history.

'Fashion is the most overt and enduring conduit of the camp aesthetic,' said Andrew Bolton, curator in charge of the Costume Institute and creator of its blockbuster shows. Bolton said the 2019 show would 'advance creative and critical dialogue about the ongoing and ever-evolving impact of camp on fashion.'

The exhibit will feature approximately 175 objects, not only clothing but also sculptures, paintings, and drawings.

Designers to be featured in the show include: Cristóbal Balenciaga, Thom Browne, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Charles James, Christian Lacroix, Karl Lagerfeld, Prada, Versace and many more.

The Camp: Notes on Fashion exhibit will run from May 9 through Sept. 8.
