The Government Pre-Metric Hostel run by the SC/ST Department will not charge residents any fee. Instead, each resident will get a pocket money of ₹280 per month besides an annual payment of ₹4,000.
The construction of the hostel is complete with all facilities. The work was completed a month before the beginning of the new academic year.
The hostel is open to students of Standards 5 to 10. The educational expenses of students staying in the hostel are met by the government. Food is free, while the monthly allowance will take care of the other expenses of students. They can purchase uniform, books, and bags using the ₹4,000 allotted to them.
The hostel is located close to St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, Malayattoor. There are 12 students at present at the hostel, and another 28 will take admission this academic year. Those who need additional help in studies will be provided with tutors. Tuitions will be conducted between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
