The major rise of the tourist arrivals during the period happened because of the inflow of huge amount of tourists from Asian countries particularly China. The other countries are Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Vietnam, India and Malaysia.
Nevertheless, the number of tourists from Europe dropped, as per the Ministry of Labor, Immigration and Population which unveiled that the tourist arrivals on board ocean liners dropped by 15 percent in 2019, as those entering through border gates increased by 144 percent.
Myanmar welcomed 4.6 million tourists in 2015, 2.91 million in 2016, 3.44 million in 2017 and 3.55 million in 2018, and is probably to grow in 2019.
