Women outnumber male candidates

The number of applicants for the University of Hyderabad (UoH) has gone up this year and women are in majority among the applicants.

The top-ranking central university has received about 55,600 applications online for the various courses for the year 2019-20. Last year, the number of applicants was 52,000-plus.

There were 22,184 general category applications while 18,530 came from Other Backward Classes. Out of total applicants, 27,148 are males and 28,448 women. There are also four transgenders among those applied.

Entrance exams will be held from May 27 to 31 at 31 centres across the country. There are 2,220 seats being offered for admissions to 120 courses. This includes 16 integrated courses, 42 PG courses, 14 M Phil, 9 M Tech and 39 Ph D programmes.

Hall tickets for the entrance examinations can be downloaded from May 20, the university said in a release.
