And at least five of their family members are being exhumed.

It all came after a landowner allegedly planted crops over their graves.

It's a long time coming.

Some community members tell me they were horrified when they found out a farmer plowed over an additional burial site."

And his wife sarah martin moved to indiana during the early 1800's.

They were one of the first people living on this land.

The pioneers were buried her?

But pretty soon?

That will no longer be the case.

"we are exhuming the bodies and relocating them to calvert chapel.

We're actually indiana pioneers."

" and the founding matriarch and patriarch of the family are the ones that's actually buried here.

Along with a few other family members."

Getting to this point has been a process.

Ken calvert traced his family tree but never could visit his 5th great grandparents and uncle's grave.

He will be able to soon along with 5 other ancestors.

"tell me, what does this mean for your family?

"i'm glad we are finally getting closure.

As a genealogist i've been trying to locate my family and we've has success."

The former landowner says he knew this was a grave site.

"we took care of for 50 years."

He even says he warned the farmer who bought the land from him to be aware of those graves.

But he says he noticed the farmer slowly started planting over the entire burial site.

"i told him again to stay off of it.

I said there's a cemetery there.

He said, well, you told us several times.

We don't work it that deep."

The calverts have been working closely with the dnr to locate the bodies and dig them u?

Even though they were laid to rest nearly 200 years ago.

"all lives matter and i think in today's society, unfortunately, we forget about the importance of family."
