The district administration has declared a local holiday for Vellore district on Wednesday May 15 in order to enable government employees and members of the public to attend the annual ‘Sirasu’ festival in the Gangaiamman Temple at Gudiyatham.
According to a release from the District Collector of Vellore, in lieu of May 15, June 8 (Saturday) will be a working day for government employees, and June 9 (Sunday) a working day for employees of the Government Printing Press.
Since May 15 will not be a holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881, the government treasuries and sub-treasuries will function, the release stated.
