Three engineers, who were returning home on a motorcycle after celebrating the upcoming engagement of one of them, were killed on the spot after they lost control of the bike and collided with a road divider before crashing on to a near-by electric pole in Basaveshwara Nagar in the early hours of Monday.
The deceased have been identified as Karthik, 28, a resident of Kengeri; Srinath, 28, of T.Narasipura; and Anil, 25, of Machohalli.
The police said all three had gone out for dinner and were on their way back home when the accident happened while they were on Siddaiah Puranik Road in Basaveshwara Nagar around 12.15 a.m.
According to the police, Karthik was riding the bike, while Srinath and Anil were riding pillion. The three were not wearing helmets and sustained severe head injuries and were killed on the spot, the police said.
The police added that the engagement of Anil, an engineer with a PSU, was scheduled for May 9.
The Kamakshipalya traffic police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving and have handed over the bodies to their family members after post-mortem.
