Today is national nurses day... which is the first day of nursing week... giving back to those who give to us as nurses.

Action news now reporter spencer joseph met up with some veteran... and brand new nurses today at shasta regional medical center to ask them what it means to be nurses.

National nurses week ends on may 12th.... which is actually florence nightingale's birthday... who most consider to be the founder of modern nursing practices.
