The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has criticised Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy for “threatening officials” in the wake of the High Court order upholding the primacy of an elected government.
The Chief Minister had in a press meet following the judgment warned the bureaucracy that he would be compelled to file contempt of court petitions, should they fail to fall in line with the decisions of the government.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, AIADMK legislature party leader A. Anbalagan said the Chief Minister was adopting intimidatory tactics against officials.
He also criticised the Chief Minister for his statement that the Lt. Governor cannot go on appeal against the HC order without getting permission from the cabinet.
The Chief Minister had said that Ms. Bedi could not prefer an appeal in her capacity as Administrator of Puducherry without the nod of the elected government, and that she could only go on appeal in a personal capacity.
The Chief Minister’s position on this was “untenable”, Mr. Anbalagan said.
