Just like swimming, Arijit Sirpurkar from Bhavan’s Civil Lines has excelled in studies as well. A state-level swimmer since the last four years, Arijit has scored 93.8% marks.
He has represented his school in swimming in many competitions. Arijit said “I feel extremely elated. Honestly, I did not expect to score these many marks. I had to reappear for my second periodic exams. Moreover, there was not much gap between the 2nd periodic and it retest. I had to appear for 5 exams in 6 days and that was a challenge.”
“I use to study for 4-5 hours a day and swim for minimum 2 hours. Managing my social life was not a task because I used to meet my friends daily at school. During my first periodic test, I had to study and manage other things alone as my mother was out of town. It was a bit difficult,” he said.
“I did not take a single leave in the last two years. In December end, I had to reduce my swimming timings due to my studies. I covered up during March when I got preparation leave. Swimming refreshed my mind and increased my concentration,” Arijit said.
“I aspire to become a lawyer as my parents and my grandparents have been a part of the judiciary. It inspires me a lot. When I was in Std IX, many of my friends and classmates, who were good sportspersons, left sports for studies that was upsetting for me. I kept my other hobbies like reading intact. My best friend Parth Wane was also a state-level swimmer and scored the same percentage as I did,” he added. tnn
