Spreading the dragnet, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) wing zeroed in on the premises of Z. Luthraiah Naidu, Deputy Commissioner of Commercial Taxes Department, in Kadapa on Tuesday.
In addition to the raids in Kadapa, the Department also conducted simultaneous raids on the premises of his relatives in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Vijayawada. According to M. Nagabhushanam, Deputy Superintendent of Police (ACB), Kadapa, the raid yielded unaccounted property, the book value of which is worth ₹2 crore. Apart from 770gm of gold, 1kg of silver articles and ₹4.26 lakh in cash, documents pertaining to a mango garden to the extent of 23 acres jointly registered in the names of the official, his wife Z. Nirmala Devi and four children, and two houses – one each in Kurnool and Chagalamarri – were also found in his possession. Besides, a tractor and two motorcycles were recovered.
Apart from the complaints received from victims, the ACB had also kept a watch on the official in the recent past. Further, the ACB was keeping track of his previous stints at Ananthapuram, Kurnool and Hyderabad. After the raid, Luthraiah Naidu was arrested for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
