Why 'Egg Boy' won sympathy for his attack on Fraser Anning - but the 'copy-cat attack' by a tattooed greenie on the Prime Minister will NOT be greeted with the same affection

  • 'Egg Girl's' bid for fame may not strike the same chord as 'Egg Boy's' effort
  • Amber Holt, 24, was charged with assault after allegedly egging Scott Morrison
  • Holt was wearing a 'feminist' T-shirt when she allegedly egged the PM
  • Will Connolly, 17, egged Fraser Anning after he blamed Muslims for Christchurch
  • 'Egg Boy got a level of forgiveness ... because Anning is so easy to dislike'

Amber Holt tried to create a viral moment by slapping an egg into the back of the Prime Minister's head, just as 'Egg Boy' did to Fraser Anning.

But throwing an egg at Scott Morrison during a  Country Women's Association convention on Tuesday is unlikely to end the way it was cracked up to be for 'Egg Girl'.

Commentators doubt the 24-year-old will be honoured with murals and showered with Instagram fame like Will Connolly, 17, was in March.

There's a big difference in the circumstances of the two eggings, pundit Peter Ford said.

Amber Holt - or 'Egg Girl' - may find viral fame is not all it's cracked to be, commentators said

'Egg Boy got a level of forgiveness as he was young and because Anning is so easy to dislike,' Mr Ford told Daily Mail Australia.

Connolly's attack on Mr Anning came after the senator was widely condemned for a media release blaming the Christchurch massacre on Muslim immigration.

The teen became a sympathetic figure.

Mr Anning punched Connolly right back in the face and the boy was wrestled to the ground by the senator's supporters.

But Holt's alleged attack on the nation's leader in Albury was a relative failure in the public relations stakes.

Video shows Holt - dressed in a red beanie and 'feminist' T-shirt - allegedly throwing the egg, sparking a melee that toppled an elderly woman over before Mr Morrison helped her to her feet.

ABC radio's Matt Bevan who was at the scene said 'the egging has led to lovely vision of the Prime Minister compassionately helping an old lady up from the ground' which could only help his campaign rather than harm it.

Holt's egging was also done in an apparent political protest at Australia's offshore processing system for illegal migrants. That may be controversial, but it is supported by both major parties.

For Holt's sake, she said the egging 'speaks for itself', and asked reporters: 'Have you seen his video to Manus Island?'

There's little doubt the woman's (alleged) actions were motivated by the viral fame handed to Egg Boy, Mr Ford said.

'He (Egg Boy) should never have been applauded or encouraged as it's given entree to what we saw today and the result was an innocent woman on the ground,' Mr Ford said.

The teenager was offered lifetime free tickets to music events and had his face emblazoned on T-shirts after the stunt.

Mr Ford said: 'We all know an egg isn't going to kill anyone but the frenzy an assault like that can cause means innocent people become collateral damage in what ensues.'

'If an old woman isn't safe serving scones in the CWA, where is she?'

No one was hurt today.

Holt was ejected from the event by the Prime Minister's bodyguards and handed herself in at Albury police station.

She was then charged with common assault. She was also charged with possessing a prohibited drug after police allegedly found cannabis on her.

Holt's bail conditions stipulated that she must not approach Mr Morrison, or assault, stalk or intimidate him.

But they do say she will be able to harm Mr Morrison in another, legal way - by exercising her democratic right to vote at the May 18 federal election.

Senator Fraser Anning blamed the overwhelmingly positive response to Egg Boy's attack as leading to Mr Morrison's egging.

'It has created a situation where grubs think this behaviour is acceptable,' Mr Anning tweeted.

'This is politically motivated violence and is never acceptable!

'Despite the PM's over zealous reaction to an almost identical incident, I wholeheartedly condemn any such acts and hope Scott Morrison is OK'.

Neither Egg Boy or Mr Anning were charged over their stoush, Mr Anning having struck the 17-year-old after he was egged.
