In a joint operation, the Yelahanka and KG Halli police rescued a 38-year-old businessman, who was allegedly abducted and locked up in a house for 15 says by three men to recover the ₹3 lakh he owed them.
Vimal Kumar Swamy, a native of Tamil Nadu and staying in Dabaspet, had taken ₹3 lakh from the accused Aslam of KG Halli to get him a scrap material contract from a private company. But, Swamy failed to get the contract and delayed in repaying the money he had taken from Aslam.
After repeated warnings, Aslam called Swamy to Govindapura on the pretext of talking to him and took him to Doddaballapura and locked him up in his relative’s house.
Threatened to kill
The accused threatened to kill Swamy if the money was not repaid. Swamy, who had incurred huge losses in his business, sought time. However, the accused forced Swamy to call his brother, Raju, demanding money. Raju managed to arrange ₹50,000 and transferred the money.
Aslam started demanding the remaining amount. Fearing for his brother’s life, Raju approached the Yelahanka police and filed a complaint. The police arrested Aslam and two of his associates. Further investigation is on to trace others involved in the abduction racket.
