That’s a new one????A University of Lisbon team thinks they’ve found evidence of plates peeling apart????Lisbon, Portugal has experienced multiple earthquakes ????which is strange because the region isn’t near any active tectonic faults????Researchers think seismic activity is occurring underneath the seabed ????Computer models indicate a soft lower rock layer is tearing away from the upper layer????They suggest it’s creating a new subduction zone, triggering those earthquakes????The findings were presented at the EGU General Assembly 2019??
