Junior Kristin Lavoie won three events to lead Durfee past New Bedford 76-56 in Big 3 Conference girls' track and field on Tuesday in windy New Bedford.
Lavoie was first in the triple jump (27-8), mile (6:36.1) and two miles (15:18.7). The Hilltoppers also got firsts from Devanny Pheap (discus, 71-0), Abigail Long (400, 67.9), Bianca Acevedo (400hurdles, 1:38.1) and Lauraine Dayo (800, 2:49.7).
Durfee's Meadow Worsley was second in the mile and two miles. Other Hilltoppers second places came form Valeria Lamas (shot), Emma Thiboutot (long jump), Acevedo (100 hurdles), Kyla Lockhart (triple jump), Mya Siep (400 hurdles) and Chanel Hetu (800). Third-place finishers were Ashley Doung (discus), Alisha Gonzales (shot), Malin Mayo (javelin), O'Sheaya Sterling (long jump, 100 hurdles), Long (high jump) and Lamas (200).
BOYS
New Bedford 75, Durfee 57; Dartmouth 88, Durfee 47: At windy New Bedford High School, Durfee senior Cameron Rodgers won three events and broke a school record that had stood for 52 years.
Rodgers long jumped 22 feet, 1.5 inches to top the school record set by Dan Lord in 1967. Rodgers also won the 110 hurdles (16.0) and 400 hurdles (56.0).
Agaianst New Bedford, Durfee got second places from Dan Keating (high jump), Elias Robitaille (shot), Ronald Geanty (triple jump), Xavier Arpa (discus), and Kirk Rowe (100, 200); and thirds from Jason Hall (high jump), Geanty (long jump), Benjamin Hankerson (triple jump, 400), Robitaille (discus), Sam Vorn (400 hurdles), Duane Stephenson (200) and Keating (2 miles). Durfee won both relays.
Against Dartmouth, Keating won the high jump (5-6), Geanty won the triple jump (38-0.75), Rowe won the 100 (12.0) and Keating won the mile.
At the Twilight Meet in Weston last weekend, Rodgers placed second in the high jump (6-4) and fourth in the hurdles (55.85).
