Columbus man surrenders to law enforcement after alleged assault, kidnapping

Faces multiple charges after investigators say a woman and child suffer injuries and are taken to the hospital wtva's nicole dantzler joins us live from the sheriff's office to tell us how this man's actions landed him in jail... a man turns himself in to the lowndes county deputies and faces multiple charges after his ex-girlfriend accuses him of assaulting her and her nine month old child.

Twenty nine year old coby terell pittman faces three charges of aggravated domestic violence, kidnapping and simple assault on a child after turning himself into deputies on monday.

((take sot) "she had been assaulted by her former boyfriend, as she put it but i think they're still in some type of relationship, said that he had assaulted her and her baby."

Chief deputy greg wright- lowndes county sheriff's office he says pittman's ex-girlfriend accused him of strangling her, holding her against her will and shoving her to the ground all while she held her nine month old child.

((take sot)) "she was able i think to contact her grandmother and was able to get away from him at that point.

Went to the hospital and that's where we got the information."

Chief deputy greg wright- lowndes county sheriff's office rt-0:13 deputies responded to the baptist memorial hospital where the twenty four year old woman and child were treated for their injuries.

According to investigators pittman hit the woman while she was holding the child, she fell and the child hit their head.

((take sot)) "there was visible abrasions on her neck according to the investigator.

Also the child had suffered a head wound that the way it was given to me was a large hematoma on the child's head."

Chief deputy greg wright- lowndes county sheriff's office pittman is out on bond.

Investigators will present their findings to a grand jury this summer.
