UP: Nine-year-old boy charred to death, two dozen houses gutted in Kasganj fire

AGRA: A nine-year-old boy was charred to death and a 22-year-old youth suffered burn injuries after fire gutted over two dozen house in UP's Kasganj district.
The incident took place on Monday afternoon at Nagla Mehuri village of Sikandarpur Vaishya police jurisdiction. According to police, a wedding ceremony had been organised when the fire broke out killing Vikas Kashyap, son of Papu Kashyap, who had organised the wedding ceremony for his daughter. His nephew Bablu suffered grievous burn injuries while trying to douse the fire. Bablu was taken to hospital for medical assistance.

Kasganj superintendent of police Ashok Kumar Shukla said, “The exact reason of the fire is yet to be known, but over two dozen homes of local villagers were destroyed. Two cattleheads also perished. The fire tenders managed to douse the fire in minimum possible time.”

The officer said, “After the incident, the tehsildar visited the village for an estimate of the loss. The district administration will compensate the victims. Meanwhile, we have sent the nine-year-old victim’s body for autopsy.”

In another incident, a fire also broke out at Mehra Chaudhary village of Fatehabad police jurisdiction in the Agra district, in which two cow and a buffalo were killed.
An incident of fire was also reported from Sadpura village of Sahson police jurisdiction in the Etawah district, in which almost every home was burned to ashes.
