BJP Bengal president, Assam minister allegedly attacked at West Bengal's Khejuri

KOLKATA: Assam’s finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and BJP’s Bengal president Dilip Ghosh were allegedly attacked in East Midnapore on Tuesday night by a group of suspected Trinamool Congress supporters when they were returning from a rally, addressed by BJP president Amit Shah.
Sarma was the first to flag off the issue in a series of Facebook and Twitter posts around 8.30pm on Tuesday that their cars were intercepted and vandalised by a group of 100 odd Trinamool supporters at Khejuri in Tamluk Lok Sabha constituency.
In the Facebook post Sarma said: "We are at Khejuri in Kanthi LS constituency and attacked mercilessly by All India Trinamool Congress goons. Many of our workers are injured even as Mamata Banerjee goons gheraoing and abusing us. Bjp4Bengal President Dilip Ghosh and I are stuck."
Taking to Twitter, Sarma said, "TMC goons have blocked the roads from sides even as West Bengal police personnel standing like mute spectators. I am appalled at such brazen abuse of power by @MamataOfficial whose people have thrown all democratic norms to gutter. Is this the #NewIndia that we dream of?"

Ranjit Mondal, Trinamool MLA from Khejuri said a group of 20 odd BJP supporter shouting Jai Shri Ram slogans attacked his convoy when he was returning from a meeting at Khejuri.

"The group fled after our supporters retaliated and chased them. Around the same time, Dilip Ghosh’s convoy was passing by the same area and they faced the heat of agitation of our enraged party supporter. However, cops rushed to the place and managed the situation," he said.
Sarma posted the series of four Tweets at 8.30pm and had attached a video and four still photographs along with. Within an hour, the post was re-tweeted 677 times.
