Ayushi Pushkar of DPS, Eldeco and Isha Srivastava of Rani Laxmi Bai Memorial School Senior Secondary School are on cloud nine, having scored 498 out of 500 marks to share the second rank with 23 others in CBSE Class 10 exam, results of which were declared on Monday.

Both these Lucknow girls were expecting good marks but never thought they would share second rank in the country.

“I was expecting around 95% but was pleasantly surprised to find I had scored 498 out of 500. There is no success mantra. One has to have consistency else it is difficult to be among top rankers,” said a jubilant Ayushi Pushkar who scored a perfect 100 in English, Maths and social science and 99 in science and Hindi.

Ayushi, who wants to become a neurosurgeon, claimed she did not have a facebook account but used Whatsapp as it had become necessary, specially to exchange notes. Her father, Brijendra Kumar Pushkar is a government officer and mother Sonia Pushkar is a housewife. Ayushi loves to try her hand at painting and cooking.

Isha Srivastava, who also obtained second rank, wants to prepare for IIT and later join the civil services. She scored 100 in English, Mathematics and science and 99 in Hindi and social science.

“I was not expecting 498 marks. I was hoping something around 94-95%. I am really happy with my result which would not have been possible without proper guidance from teachers,” said Isha who believes in self-study. Her hobby is listening to music.

Varanasi: Yogesh Gupta, one of the 13 toppers of CBSE class 10 exams, says he was confident of a good result, but didn’t expect to get the first rank in the country.

A student of St Patrick’s senior Secondary school, Jaunpur, Gupta scored 499 out of 500 in the exams. He says, “I expected to score above 90 per cent, but never thought that I would be a topper. I studied for four to five hours daily.” “Success can’t be planned. One should be dedicated towards his goal and success will follow,” adds Gupta who idolizes Swami Vivekanand and Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.

“I owe my success to my teachers and parents because they guided me regularly. The teachers clarified my doubts in several subjects. My parents are quite happy with my score. I am also very happy,” adds Gupta who wants to become a doctor.

In the eastern UP region, Gaurav Singh, a student of Sunbeam Mughalsarai, scored 498 marks in the exam, securing the second rank.
