New Delhi: Congress leader and Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Monday launched a tirade against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his unfulfilled poll promises, says “PM Modi will sink into his wave of lies, as all his promises are unfulfilled.” Citing Rs 20,000-crore Namami Gange flagship programme to clean the holy river Ganga, he alleged that only Rs 6,000 crore was spent and not even 10% of the sewage infrastructure was built as today. River Ganga in Varanasi is the most polluted as harmful bacteria has increased by 84 times.
“The Supreme Court observed that the rate at which Modi govt is cleaning the River Ganga, it’ll take 200 years to complete the cleaning of Ganga. Is Modi going to claim now that he will remain the prime minister for 200 years to fulfill the promise,” Sidhu asked. Giving another example of unfulfilled promise, he said 2.5 lakh villages were to benefit from Digital India connectivity “but the fact is that in reality, only 1.10 lakh villages have just received the cable, and not even 2% of these villages have the internet connection.”
