Mock drill conducted at Mantralaya

A mock drill was conducted at Mantralaya for around two hours on Monday night. Police vehicles and barricades were set up at all the gates leading into the premises and on the main road outside, blocking vehicular and pedestrian traffic in one lane.

Several people were seen standing on the pavement near the barricades seeking information, as they could not take a bus to Cuffe Parade from the bus stop outside Mantralaya, as per their daily routine. They were directed to the previous bus stop on the route, which is on Marine Drive.

Traffic police personnel were posted in the area to ensure smooth flow of vehicular traffic.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (HQ-I) Sachin Patil, who currently holds charge as Mumbai Police spokesperson, confirmed that a mock drill had been conducted, but declined to reveal any details.

“There is no reason to panic and citizens are requested to not spread rumours,” Mr. Patil said.
