Mysuru: Still a teenager, Adithi A has 60 English poems to her name, and was the face of Karnataka in the national level Bal Shree competition. Now, this talented student has managed to add yet another feather to the already thick plumage in her hat: Adithi managed to secure 99% in the
Central Board of Secondary Examination (
CBSE) class X test, the results of which were announced on Monday, to emerge the topper in her school, Manasarowar Pushkarini Vidyashrama.
Daughter of two doctors – her father Dr Ashok is a child specialist while his wife Dr Deepthu is an ophthalmologist – Adithi aced the CBSE exams, securing a whopping 495 marks out of 500. Besides securing centum in mathematics and social science, Adithi scored 99 in science. However, it was her score in the two languages that has left all awestruck – Adithi scored 99 in English, and 97 in Kannada. Traditionally, languages are the subjects that students often lose a heap of marks in, but Adithi successfully bucked the trend.
What sets Adithi’s achievement in stark relief is the level of her engagement in extra-curricular activities at school. A house captain at her school, she was also president of the English Club. “I gave speeches during all events at school, including on national festivals,” said Adithi, who was quick to add that she had not been expecting the score she ultimately got. “Not in my dreams,” she added.
On her plans for the future, Adithi said that she would opt for physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology going forward. However, her focus on education, she said, would not limit her literary ambitions. “I will continue writing poems,” she added.
Principal of Manasarowar Pushkarini Vidyashrama Harshita Harikumar told TOI that she was proud of her student. “She is an all-rounder, She was active in both curricular and extra-curricular activities. She managed to strike a balance between all of them. There is a message for all students and parents in her success,” said Harshita.
Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) in Siddharth Nagar and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya both achieved 100% results in the class X exams. While Smitha S and Sreejani Halder, both of whom scored 98.4%, emerged as toppers at KV, Dhanush HS and Dhanush M, secured 95.2% to bag the top spot at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. MM Umashankar (97.8%), Jeevika Venkatesh (97.6%) and Samprada Bhat (97.2%) are the other toppers at KV.
“As many as 14 students secured more than 90% at our school. We are very happy with the results. We want our students to achieve more, and excel in all fields,” said jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya principal Madhusoodan J.
