Over 3 kg smuggled gold worth over Rs 1 cr seized in

Smuggled gold weighing over 3 and valued at over Rs 1 crore has been seized at the international airport here in two separate cases, customs official said Tuesday.

The (AIU) had on May 5 intercepted a passenger, who arrived in the city from and found 33 gold biscuits weighing 3.3 worth Rs 1.04 crore concealed in a tailor-made pouch wrapped around his waist and shoes.

The man was arrested, they said.

In another case, customs sleuths recovered 430.16 grams of smuggled gold worth Rs 13.57 lakh, which was concealed in the form of inner support frame of a trolley bag by a passenger who had arrived here from Dubai, they added.
