Visakhapatnam, Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad will look to win and seal their place in the Qualifier 2 as they face other in the Eliminator of the ongoing IPL season at the Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
DC are coming into this game after a thumping win over the RR whereas SRH qualified into the play-offs despite losing their last two games due to a higher net run rate than KKR and the KXIP.
After previous struggling seasons, Delhi Capitals have impressed everyone with their performance this season.
DC’s young batting unit have done a remarkable job and somehow managed to score the runs whenever the team needed them.
India opener Shikhar Dhawan who was picked in the trading window has scored runs freely at the top in the powerplay overs.
Apart from Shikhar, Skipper Shreyas Iyer too has played a couple of match-winning knocks and has led from the front, while Rishabh Pant has finished off games and played a key role in the revival of DC this season.
However, DC will miss the services of pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada who has returned to S Africa because of injury. In Rabada’s absence, the onus will be on the likes of Trent Boult, Ishant Sharma , Amit Mishra to help DC win against SRH.
On the other hand, SRH have become a little weaker side after the departure of David Warner and Jonny Bairstow for their World Cup national camps.
However, Manish Pandey’s return to form has given some confidence to the SRH team. Saha has also played a couple of fiery cameos and will look to play big knock at biggest possible stage. Skipper Kane Williamson, who returned to form with a fine knock of 70 against the RCB will be a key factor and will want to lead from the front.
SRH’s bowling hasn’t been that great what it used to be last season and have leaked runs at the crucial stages.
Pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar who did well against RCB in the last match will look to get a couple of early wickets and put the pressure on Delhi’s young batting unit.
Khaleel Ahmed has also made a huge impact since he has featured in the side and has been a strike bowler picking up wickets whenever he has come to bowl. Spinners’ duo of Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan will be definitely a key factor and could decide the fate of the match.
The winner of this match will face the loser of the Qualifier 1 and will play in the Qualifier 2 in Visakhapatnam on Friday.
