Game of Thrones: What Did Dany Whisper to Jorah at His Funeral?

[Warning: The following contains spoilers for the most recent episode of Game of Thrones.]

After the epic Battle of Winterfell on last week's Game of Thrones, there were just a few bodies to dispose of the next day. The massive pyres built in front of the castle burned up not just the army of the dead, but all our fallen heroes as well, including Daenerys' (Emilia Clarke) oldest friend, Ser Jorah Mormont (Iain Glen), who died protecting her.

Before Dany lit his funeral pyre, she kissed him on the forehead and whispered something to his body that viewers couldn't, sparking the curiosity of fans. So what did Dany whisper to Jorah before bidding him farewell forever?

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Glen admitted that the line was unscripted, though there was a line of stage direction in the script which read: "Daenerys whispers something to him that he'll never hear and we'll never know..." What she actually said was left up to Clarke to create, and Glen would only reveal, "It's something entirely sincere and true to the moment and something that I'll never forget."

Sadly, Glen chose not to reveal the actual words to anyone, deciding instead to keep the whisper between him and Clarke so that it will always be something just the two of them know about their characters. If you need a moment to recover from that boatload of feels you just got, we understand. At least this way, fans can theorize and speculate to their heart's content what Dany's parting words to her dearest friend were.

While we would have loved to believe that she finally told him she loved him, what we could make out of her dialogue doesn't quite fit with a short and simple I love you. Some fans have speculated she repurposed her old line with Drogo (Jason Momoa), "Until the sun rises in the West and sets in the East," which would certainly be a romantic farewell to the man who loved her so dearly. It would be a little odd to see her express such romance to Jorah though when she admitted later when talking about his feelings for her with Jon (Kit Harington) that she couldn't love him the way he loved her. Other fans think she could have whispered to him that she was pregnant like Gilly (Hannah Murray) did to Jon later in the episode. Plus, using her old pledge to Drogo? Not likely. Other theories include an apology for getting him killed or a thank you for saving her life, and we're sure the speculation will go on long after the show ends.

Whatever she said, we might want to mark it down as the beginning of Dany's end. After losing Jorah and now Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel), it's hard to deny Dany is beginning to spiral, and most fans are speculating she's going to earn her father's title and become the Mad Queen in the series' final two episodes. Without the steadfast influence of the two people who meant the most to her, Daenerys might just find herself without anyone to support her claim to the Iron Throne.
