The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for conduct of by-election to the Rangareddy, Nalgonda and Warangal local authorities constituencies of the Telangana Legislative Council.

The bypoll was necessitated as the elected candidate Patnam Narender Reddy resigned from the post from Ranga Reddy LAC and was elected as MLA from Kodangal defeating TPCC working president A. Revanth Reddy. Mr. Mahender Reddy’s term was to expire on January 1, 2022, but he tendered his resignation on December 11 last year, the day when the results of the Telangana Legislative Assembly were announced.

Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy vacated his Nalgonda LAC while Konda Muralidhar quit Warangal LAC after his wife joined the Congress.

With a vacancy existing in the Council, the Commission has decided to conduct the bypoll and announced the schedule for the same. Accordingly, May 14 will be the last day of filing the nominations and May 17 the last day for withdrawal of the nominations.

The date of polling, if need be, will be May 31 and the election process should be completed by June 7. A formal notification of the election will be issued on Tuesday.
