The Australian Hotels Association (WA) strongly welcomes today’s announcement by the McGowan Government of an additional $4.5 million investment in the StudyPerth International Education Action Plan.

The budget funding boost will deliver direct and substantial benefits to both WA’s education sector and tourism and hospitality industry, by promoting the state to prospective international students.

Australian Hotels Association (WA) CEO Bradley Woods said the international education market was an increasingly competitive sector and the investment will help ensure WA remains at the forefront of those students’ minds who are considering studying abroad.

“There are very clear and well known links between the international education sector and the broader tourism and hospitality industry, making today’s announcement such a welcome one,” Mr Woods said.

“Students who come to Perth to study will almost inevitably be joined by family and friends, so investing in attracting more international students will have a substantial multiplier effect for the state’s hotel and hospitality industry.”

“International students are also a critical component of the state’s hospitality workforce, so there will be a range of long term benefits that flow from today’s announcement.”

“This investment is another element of the McGowan Government’s comprehensive plan to attract a range of visitors to Western Australia – these are investments that will pay for themselves many times over.”
