CBSE 10th Result 2019: Uttar Pradesh students dominate CBSE Class Xth merit list

Students of Uttar Pradesh dominated the merit list of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 examination, the results of which were declared on Monday. Out of 97 students who shared the top three ranks, 40 were from the state.

Thirteen students were joint first rankers, scoring 499 marks. Of these, eight were from UP. The second rank was shared by 25 students with 498 marks and 13 of these were also from UP.

As many as 59 students shared the third rank, of which 19 were from UP, according to the merit list declared by the Board.

Girls had a lion’s share on the Class 10 merit list. On the list of 97, girls accounted for 64 and boys 33. Lucknow students did not figure on the list of first rankers. However, two from the state capital shared the second and third rankers’ list.

Lucknow’s Ayushi Pushkar (DPS), Eldeco and Isha Srivastava of Rani Laxmi Bai Memorial School scored 498 to share the second rank with others.

Vaishnavi Singh of Rani Laxmi Bai Memorial School, Indira Nagar Lucknow and Poorti Srivastava of Lucknow Public School, LDA Colony scored 497 marks to be on the third rankers’ list.

Out of 17,61,078 students who appeared in the CBSE Class 10 examinations, 16,04,428 cleared the exam. This pass percentage this year was 91.10% and 4.40% higher than last year’s 86.70%.

The girls did better than the boys, registering pass percentage of 92.45% as compared to boys (90.14%). The pass percentage of transgenders was 94.74%.

The students from UP had also dominated the CBSE Class 12 merit list on May 2. Out of 23 students who figured on the list, 12 were from the state.

Among the regions, Trivandrum had the highest pass percentage of 99.85%, while Guwahati recorded the lowest (74.49%).

In the institution-wise comparison, Kendriya Vidyalayas had the best pass percentage of 99.47%, while government schools had the lowest (71.91%).
