The man, accused of slapping Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday, has been sent to two-day judicial custody under preventive arrest following Magistrate’s orders, the police said on Sunday.
They had registered an FIR under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) at Moti Nagar police station against the accused, Suresh.
However, on Sunday they received another complaint from an AAP worker against the accused.
“After the AAP worker’s complaint, we have added IPC Section 153 [promoting enmity between different groups] in the FIR,” said an officer.
‘Disrupt peace’
The accused could disrupt peace in the society during the election, the police said, adding that he has been sent to judicial custody under Criminal Procedure Code Section 107 (apprehension of breach of peace and tranquillity of an area) and 151 (arrest to prevent the commission of cognizable offences).
