Two construction workers were killed when a speeding bus knocked down their motorcycle when they were attempting to cross the Madurai-Theni highway at Nagamalai Pudukottai on Monday.
The police identified the victims as A. Pandiselvam, 30, of Muthupatti and P. Vinod, 19, of Perumalmalai. The two, engaged in a construction work on Pillar Salai, were on their way to buy tea for all the workers.
Pandiselvam, who was riding the motorcycle, saw a Theni-bound bus halting at the bus stop. Without watching out for the vehicles following the bus, he tried to cross the four-lane highway, when a speeding bus bound for Munnar hit the two-wheeler, killing both the youth on the spot.
Nagamalai Pudukottai police are investigating.
