Agra: Police nab three robbers with 118kg of silver after encounter

AGRA: In an encounter on Monday morning, Agra police nabbed three men with 118kg silver, which was robbed by the gang of 12 men from a ‘high-end’ products shipping company’s SUV, in a well planned and executed heist. In the encounter one of the accused sustained bullet in his leg, but was out of danger.
The encounter took place at Khadwai Nagar at around 3:55am.
According to police, the mastermind of the robbery was the former employee of the logistic shipping company and a distant relative of the company’s director Shankar Singh Parimar.
The accused was identified as Harvendar Singh, the mastermind, who executed the robbery in order to avenge insult and recover Rs 4 lakh, which he had to pay his maternal uncle Shankar Singh Parimar, after he was caught stealing parcels in 2018 and was fired from his job.
The accused who sustained bullet injury was Ajay Singh, a history-sheeter with criminal records of attempt to murder, robbery and others.
Speaking to TOI, inspector Anuj Kumar of Sikandra said, “Three men including Harvendar Singh, Ajay Singh and Prashul were arrested with 118 kg weighing silver. The gang was heading to Mathura in a van, to cash in the valuables. During interrogation, main accused Harvendar claimed that he wanted to avenge his insult and teach a lesson to his maternal uncle Shankar Singh Parimar.”
“The other nine accused managed to flee away taking the advantage of night,” he added.

According to police, the other nine accused were identified as Sonu alias Yogendra, Sukesh Sikarwar, Mahendra, Bhupinder Chahar, Devendar, Netra Pal, Jaipal , Ravi Singh and Hem Singh.
The heist was executed on April 29 morning at around 11:30am, after the SUV of the logistic company was waylaid by motor-bike armed men. The men fled away with 250kg of silver packed in 23 parcels. “The gang had attempted to rob the company van even on April 28, but had failed. The gang member had done extensive recce before executing the heist,” said police officer. The recovered silver worth value is Rs 50 lakh.
