Several schools in Madurai recorded cent percentage pass in the Class 10 examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the results of which were announced on Monday.
A highlight of the results was that many students from Madurai schools scored centum in Social Science. As many as 38 students from Mahatma Montessori School alone scored centum in Social Science.
Queen Mira International School Principal Sujatha Guptan, whose students scored eight centums in the subject, said the paper was comprehensible and provided some choice to students. “The question paper pattern was new this year. Many questions were related to current politics as well. Although students were confused about the right answer, still they scored well,” she said.
Students from Kendriya Vidyalayas in both Narimedu and Tirupparankundram scored four centums each. Three from KLN Vidyalaya scored centum in the subject.
Vice-Principal of Mahatma School K. Anitha said all the 272 students who appeared for the exams passed. S. Veerappan scored 494, the highest in the school.
Both Kendriya Vidyalayas in Madurai scored high aggregate pass percentages. A total of 167 students from KV-Narimedu and 94 from KV-2 in Tirupparankundram sat for the exam. All the students secured pass marks. In KV-Narimedu, 6% of students scored above 95 percentage. Three students - Aditi Deopa, R. Ovviya Vallabi and M. Shiva - secured the highest mark of 482.
In KV-Tiruppurankundram, Sujaya Sadhvi secured 485 marks, said Principal A. Jerald.
In Velammal Vidhyalaya, 127 students scored above 400 marks and 205 students who wrote the exams passed with flying colours. Vignesh and Meena Aruna secured 490 marks.
The first batch of students from KLN Vidyalaya wrote the exam and all 30 of them passed, said Principal Veni Jothiram. As many as 18 students secured marks above 400.
In Queen Mira International School, the average score of the batch was 84 percentage. A total of 44 students secured centums.
