The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) conducted on Sunday for entry into medical colleges was easier as compared to last year’s test.
However, physics was the most difficult paper, according to students. In Telangana, 96% candidates appeared out of the 60,000 odd who registered.
NCERT advantage
The National Testing Agency that is conducting the test for the first time ensured that nearly 90% of the questions were given from NCERT books as prescribed by them. Last year, CBSE students had the advantage as questions were picked up from those books.
About 10 questions each from Physics, Chemistry and Biology were tough, according to teachers, and they felt that the cut-off mark this year is likely to be around 125. Last year, it was 119.
In Physics, out of the total 45 questions, 32 were in the range of easy to medium difficulty and the remaining were tricky. In Chemistry, most of the questions were easy and some in the medium difficulty level.
Biology was the easiest, according to teachers as well as students. Out of the 90 questions, about 35 were easy and another 40 in the medium difficulty level. The questions tested the concept of students.
Officials strict
As per the instructions, officials did not spare students who came wearing ear rings and nose rings and they were forced to take them off. Students who came with long shirts and sleeves than prescribed by NEET were asked to reduce them. They were allowed inside only after the length was cut by scissors. There were no reports of questions being leaked at any centre.
