Ludhiana: Ahead of Ramzan, the members of the Muslim community have demanded water supply at 3am so that they don’t face any problems during the fasting month.
Apart from this, they have asked the MC to maintain more cleanliness around Jama Masjid and other mosques in the city where they will go to pray in the holy month, and PCR monitoring early in the morning around Jama Masjid.
Mohammad Mustkeem, chief secretary of Shahi Imam Punjab from Jama Masjid, said he met mayor Balkar Sandhu on Sunday and requested him to ask the concerned officials to start water supply at 3am as many people would be observing fast during Ramzan. He said they have also demanded better sanitation arrangements outside all the mosques in the city.
The mayor has assured to provide water supply and other arrangements for Ramzan.
Mustkeem also met DCP Ashwani Kapoor and asked him to increase the movement of police around the mosques especially from 2am till 5am when they will come for namaz. He claimed that the Shahi Imam has also written to chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh for not imposing power cuts in the morning, evening and on Friday from noon till 3pm as it could cause inconvenience to people.
