Gopiballavpur, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today refused to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a proposed meeting at Kalaikunda over ‘Fani’, saying she would not share the same dais with the “expiry Prime Minister”.
Slamming Mr Modi on various issues, Ms Banerjee said she could have given a thought over meeting him had the prime minister exclusively called for a meeting over ‘Fani’. But he was here for electioneering and hence she would not share the same dais with an “expiry prime minister’, Ms Banerjee stressed. She said for the past 48 hours she was in Kharagpur and the phone from Delhi came to Kolkata.
The chief minister said, ‘My government has capability to take measures and compensate the damage suffered by the people. We do not want any help from the Centre,’ she averred.
“If the situation demands, we will talk to the new Prime Minister who will take charge at the Centre,’ Ms Banerjee remarked adding earlier she twice met Mr Modi and demanded funds for the state but the “Modi government did not do anything for Bengal”.
The Trinamool Congress supremo further said, ‘Delhi has been overstepping the federal structure and without consulting me they are directly calling the Chief Secretary and other top police officers.
‘The Chief Secretary of a state is under the Chief Minister,’ she remarked.Ms Banerjee said due to the present “expiry PM” the election is being dragged for two months and the people are being made to suffer.
‘The present Prime Minister has the right to do anything as he is now powerless and damaged the country for the past five years,’ she added.
