After campaigning in Gurugram and Mewat for over a week, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) candidate Virender Rana, on Monday, moved his campaign to the rural belt of Rewari and Bawal, where he met people in over 20 villages spread across the Gurgaon Lok Sabha constituency. In the last election, INLD candidate Zakir Hussain came second by securing 3.7 lakh votes. This time, Rana is also expecting a strong support from the voters.

In Rewari, Rana met farmers at places such as Garhi, Dhakia, Dohki, Gangaicha Jaat, Gothra, Manethi, Bawan Gurjar and Berwal, among others. He said that he would take up the long-standing demand of implementing the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission very seriously. This would benefit farmers and help them get a better price for their produce and protect themselves from the vagaries of both nature and market.

Rana is an engineer and owns a software company with business interests in United States, Europe and India. He is also one of the richest Lok Sabha candidates in Haryana with a net worth more than Rs100 crore.

Rana told villagers in Rewari that he would ensure that the educated, unemployed youth can get jobs. He will help them by enhancing their skills and absorbing them in private companies, which are seeing a shortage of talented resources. “There is shortage of skilled employees and I will help in overcoming the talent shortage. This is will add jobs and boost the economy,” he said.

In Khor block, which has been designated as a “dark-water zone”, the INLD candidate said that, if voted to power, he would allow a large subsidy on rainwater harvesting structures and also help in reviving the village ponds that will help in replenishing the water table. “Both the Congress and the BJP candidates have had a long stint in politics but they have not delivered the goods. This is the reason why people across the constituency are highly disappointed by their performance,” said Rana.
