Crackdown on ticketless travel
The Salem Railway Division has collected ₹ 2 crore as fine in a special drive on those who travel ticketless.
According to officials, in the 2018-19 financial year, 47,033 cases of ticketless travel have been registered on trains in the region.
The division has also registered 6,784 cases for carrying un-booked luggages and collected fine of ₹ 28,90,190 during this financial year.
According to officials, in 2017-18 financial year, the division has registered 46,662 cases of ticketless travelling and fines of ₹ 1,91,33,011 was collected. The division has also booked 7,198 cases for unbooked luggages and collected fines of ₹29,65,255 during the past financial year.
