AHMEDABAD: Scared about her result in class-10 board exam, a 14-year-old girl from Vapi had left her home and got stranded in Chiloda in Gandhinagar as she forgot everything about her identity and parents. She was finally reunited with her family on Sunday, said police officials.
When the cops of Chiloda police station of Gandhingar were on routine patrolling near Chiloda circle, they found a girl standing there. The girl was shivering with fear. When the police asked about her, she was not even able to say anything.
Later on, she was taken to Chiloda police station where in she was offered tea and snacks by women cops. But she kept reiterating that she did not know anything and was assumed to be suffering from dementia.
Police then took the help of a counsellor who asked why the girl was scared and if she had any fears. After a round of intensive counselling, the girl told the counsellor and women cops that she was scared of bad results in class-10 exam. After she was made to understand that she should not fear exam results and she would get more opportunities in future to perform well, the girl began recalling everything about her and told her name to the cops.
Simultaneously, the police searched about the girl’s parents and relatives on social media and broadcast her photo. Ultimately, her parents approached Chiloda police on Saturday and took custody of the girl after verification by cops.

Inspector Y R Vaghela of Chiloda police said that the cops checked identity proofs of persons, who claimed to be the girl’s guardian, and then only she was handed over to them.
The girl had left home around three days ago and landed in Chiloda, most probably in a bus. The girl was still not emotionally strong enough to tell how she reached there. A police official said that they felt grateful as they were able to reunite the girl before she took any extreme step or was caught in the web of some anti-social element.
