Coimbatore corporation cleaning 2 lakes

COIMBATORE: The city corporation has commenced the preliminary works at Periyakulam and Selvachinthamani lakes as a part of the lake restoration and rejuvenation project under the smart city mission.
“Before commencing the projects, we will remove water hyacinth that have occupied a good portion of the lakes. While the cleaning work has been completed at Periyakulam, the work is undergoing at Selvachinthamani lake,” a senior corporation official said.
The civic body is expecting to complete the preliminary works before the announcements of the election results so as to commence the development work immediately. The implementation period of the project is 24 months.
Members of the project monitoring committee (PMC) would inspect the works at every stage.
Meanwhile, the corporation is planning to issue re-tender for the third time to find a suitable bidder to implement the project at Valankulam.
