BSF officer injured as Pak violates ceasefire in J&K’s Poonch

JAMMU: A BSF sub-inspector was injured in cross-border firing as Pakistan violated ceasefire for the fifth consecutive day along the Line of Control (LoC) in Krishna Ghati sector of J&K’s Poonch district on Monday.

“Around 2.45pm, Pakistani troops opened unprovoked fire and resorted to heavy shelling with artillery and small arms along the LoC in Mendhar area of Krishna Ghati sector, to which the Indian Army effectively retaliated. The fire exchange stopped around 4pm,” said defence spokesperson Lt Col Devender Anand.
“Gokul Anand Ojha, a sub-inspector with BSF’s 168 Battalion, was manning a forward post when he sustained splinter injuries on his left thigh during the fire exchange. He was rushed to a hospital and is currently in a stable condition,” said a BSF official.
