The Kapil Sharma Show: Get off my seat, Navjot Singh Sidhu tells Archana Puran Singh
Kapil Sharma hinted at the return of Navjot Singh Sidhu in a playful segment with Archana Puran Singh on Saturday’s episode of the Kapil Sharma Show.
tv Updated: May 06, 2019 19:27 ISTComedian Kapil Sharma had some fun at the expense of regular fixture on the Kapil Sharma Show, Navjot Singh Sidhu, and his replacement Archana Puran Singh. On the pretext of reading Archana a love letter from her husband, Kapil forwarded a message from Sidhu: ‘Get off my set’.
He said in Saturday’s episode of his show, “Dear Archana, I love you a lot and I pray for your well-being. I hope you become so healthy that you won’t fit in a chair. For you, I can leave my home, my work and my city if you could please vacant my seat.” Kapil then added, “Yours lovingly, Navjot Singh Sidhu,” and the audience broke out in laughter. Archana played along with the joke, and made to get up from the seat. She said, “OK fine!”
Sidhu left the comedy show after he was involved in a political controversy, after making certain remarks in the wake of the Pulwama attacks earlier this year. Several social media campaigns were started to #BoycottSidhu, but Kapil had maintained that making him leave ‘is not the solution’. Archana was roped in as his replacement. She has filled the role in the past, as well, when Sidhu was taken ill.
“All this is propaganda. I believe banning people, sending Sidhu out of the show is not the right solution. We need to look for a permanent solution,” Kapil had said in an interview. Sidhu had controversially said that terrorists don’t have a religion, and to blame an entire nation on the attack is unfair. He had called for ‘dialogue to find a permanent solution to end the bloodshed.’
The most recent episode of the Kapil Sharma Show saw Badhaai Ho actors Gajraj Rao and Neena Gupta as guests.
