LUCKNOW: Four cars parked in a slot close to Dargah Hazrat Abbas in Saadatganj police station area were gutted in a fire on Saturday sparking rumours of arson. However, the police claimed that the fire broke out due to electrical short-circuit in one of parked cars and spread to the other.
Chief fire officer VK Singh said the fire broke out at around 2.30 pm.
"The parking slot is owned by the Dargah and is being managed by Rafiq, who had appointed Sajid of Kahsmiri Mohalla to look after the affairs. Those parking vehicles pay Rs 600 per month as fee. The parking is in a space adjacent to the boundary wall of the Dargah. The fire was intense and gutted the cars before being contained by the firemen. We pressed two fire tenders to douse the flames," he said.

Singh added that owners of the damaged cars were identified as Arvind Kumar, Parvez Mirza, RP Sihna and Raju Gupta of Saadatganj. "A police team is probing the incident,' he said.
Police said prima facie it appeared that the fire started in a car due to short-circuit.
