The father of a man murdered in Mexico six months ago discovered a new lead in the case after checking his son's bank account.

The body of 27-year-old Taylor Kristopher Meyer was found on November 9 at the Lázaro Cárdenas park in Playa del Carmen.

Meyer, from Hermosa Beach, Los Angeles, had arrived at the popular beach vacation spot with a group of friends who were celebrating a thirtieth birthday.

His wallet, shoes and iPhone were stolen, and his body left in a park a block from the beach.

Taylor's father Kris Meyer feared the investigation into his murder was going nowhere until he was closing Taylor' bank account and noticed two transactions were made a month after his death.

Detectives recently released security photos of a man and a woman at a drive-through ATM in Oklahoma City who tried to use Taylor  credit card on December 7.

It is unclear how the two might be connected to his murder and police are appealing for information on their identity.

Kris Meyer told NBC4 that he hopes someone will come forward, adding that he found images of the pair and CCTV footage of them using Taylor's card 'chilling.'  The footage has been shared by KTLA5 after the police appeal was issued on Thursday.

He said: 'Seeing the person that could potentially either he could have been involved in the murder or has connections to the people who were involved in the murder, it gave me a very eerie feeling.

'I don't wish this on anyone, it's absolutely horrific,' Meyer added.

He believes that Taylor was killed shortly after he withdrew money from an ATM in Playa Del Carmen.

It was only when Meyers was closing out his son's bank account in Los Angeles that he noticed something suspicious.

'It also showed two other transactions on December 7, from banks in Oklahoma City. The bad guys may have forced him to give up his pin number.'

'I think it was a cruel thing obviously, I would like justice, but i really don't want anyone else murdered in mexico,'  Kris said.

Kris said that he forgives his son's killer, or killers, but does want them to be brought to justice.

The pair in the footage were driving a silver SUV and police are hoping they can provide to shed light at what happened to Taylor Meyer.

Witnesses told police that three people attacked Meyer, stabbing him to death. Ultimately, the killers got away with Meyer’s wallet, shoes, watch and iPhone.

Initial reports said one man was arrested in Playa Del Carmen in November, but it is not known if charges were brought against him and the murder was never solved.

In November, Meyer's parents said they were concerned that local authorities would claim the murder was 'tourist on tourist' crime and not one committed by locals.

'We first didn't believe it,' Kris Meyer, the victim's father, said to ABC News. 'This is just news that we thought was a very cruel hoax, but then we confirmed it was real.'

'Three people attacked him, and that's what the witnesses said,' Krista Meyer said.

'We're afraid of this cover-up and we're never going to find the true story about all these unanswered questions,' Meyer's father, Kris, told FOX31.

'We don't want this to happen to another family,' his father continued.

His parents do not understand how their son ended up so far from the condo he rented with friends.

'The bar is here,' dad, Kris, said, demonstrating with his hands. '

'There was a 10 minute walk to the gate, the AirBnB they rented in a gated community.

'His body was found 32 minutes walking the other direction and a 10 minute cab ride away from the bar.'

Friends who traveled with Meyer told his parents the group became separated and they lost track of Meyer.

Meyer's family claimed that they wanted the FBI to look into the case, but Oklahoma City Police are now investigating.

'We would just like the FBI overseeing and getting permission from the Mexican government to oversee this investigation,' his father said. 'And so that we have clarity that we know that this is what really happened.'

In the aftermath of his death, more than 100 of Meyer's family and friends gathered at the Hermosa Beach pier to hold a candle light vigil.

The gathering remembered the fun loving man who loved country music, playing golf and organizing gatherings with friends.

'They brought him back to life for us,' Krista Meyer said of the vigil for her son.

In August, the State Department issued an update to its Mexico travel advisory, urging tourists to 'exercise increased caution' when visiting the country.

The update came after authorities confirmed the discovery of eight bodies outside the resort areas of Cancun.

The State Department says the area 'experienced an increase in homicide rates compared to the same period in 2016.'
