It may have been years since Hrithik Roshan and Sussannne Khan divorced but the two continue to co-parent their children and remain the best of friends. As Sussanne appeared on Neha Dhupia’s chat show, she had nothing but good things to say of Hrithik.

When asked why she never chose Bollywood as her career despite being the daughter of Sanjay Khan, Sussanne said she was bitten by the “design bug” early in her life. “Since I was 5, I was bitten by the bug of designing. It was all around me in my home. I used to have architectural digest magazines. My mum used to be an interior designer in those days. I was 5 years old when I used to go with her on sites and I fell in love with the world of color and design. I was obsessed with that world. I wanted to be a part of that world. Acting is equally a tough job but it didn’t attract me. There was no question of not going in designing.”

She went on to say that she went to the US to study design and met Hrithik when she returned to Mumbai. “That’s when I explored, studied, went to LA and came back when I met a superstar boy who was not a superstar at that time, but was one in my eyes when I met him. But before this I didn’t realize I didn’t have any interest in the film world. But destiny gets me back that way. I love the films and the industry, but I am so happy being where I am in my profession,” she said.

In the same interview, Sussanne called Hrithik her “support system”. She had said, “I have a support system in Hrithik. It’s not a marriage, but we are friends. That zone is so sacred to me, it doesn’t make me feel sad or lonely.” The couple had earlier made it clear that while they are friends, they have no plans to get back together. Hrithik and Sussanne divorced in 2014 after being married for 14 years; they have sons Hrehaan and Hridhaan together.
