MUMBAI: A 16-year-old boy was assaulted after an altercation with another teenager at Charkop on Friday.
Police said that the victim had stepped out of his coaching class around 6.30pm at Charkop’s sector no. 8 when he met a female friend. Suddenly, another teenager who was standing nearby picked up a fight with the 16-year-old and accused him of staring at him. The accused and his friend then beat up the victim with a paver block. He had to be rushed to a hospital where he was administered stitches on his head. The 16- year-old also suffered a fracture. Charkop police detained the teenaged accused and are looking for his friend.
The police have denied the clash occurred because the teenaged accused was stalking to the girl, also a minor. “We have made inquiries with the girl. She has denied being stalked and does not wish to file a complaint,” said an
officer. Sources said the accused was upset as the 16-year-old was chatting with the girl and, hence, beat him up.
